The School Day:
A pupil may use the cash cafeteria service A pupil may bring sandwiches In addition the school canteen is open during the morning break. All pupils remain on the school site at lunch-time.
Parents exercising their statutory right to withdraw their child from school for a period of up to a fortnight to accompany parents on their annual holiday are required to write to the Head Teacher It is the responsibility of the parent to inform the school if the child has been suffering from an infectious disease.
Pupils who arrive after 8.40am report to the Student Support Office to ‘sign in’. Pupils needing to leave early or to be out of school for part of the day – to attend a medical appointment for example – ‘sign out’ by reporting to the Student Support Office.

A pass is issued to those whose parents request that they come by bicycle. The Governors can accept no responsibility for the safety of the bicycle. Parents bringing their children to school by car are asked not to turn into Meadow Road as this causes considerable congestion at the beginning and end of the school day and could make it difficult for the emergency services to reach the school.
At Saint George’s Sixth Formers who are interested in undertaking the role of Prefect are invited to apply for appointment and are interviewed by the Head. From the number of those appointed a Head Boy, a Head Girl, a Deputy Head Boy and a Deputy Head Girl are appointed.
Additional work, detention after twenty-four hours’ notice, and placing a pupil ‘On Report’, when work and behaviour are closely monitored for a period, are sanctions commonly used. Parents are involved at an early stage when problems arise. Occasionally a pupil will be sent home for a brief ‘cooling off’ period and parents will be invited to see the Head to discuss the return. In extreme cases, a pupil will be formally excluded and reference made to the Governors.
In the event of any complaint, the matter should be raised first with the Head or with another senior member of staff. Full details of the Complaints Procedure are available for inspection at the school. |
