Social Studies

The Social Studies Department offers several courses in the Sixth Form of Saint George's.

AS and A Level Government and Politics

GCSE, AS and A Level Psychology

AS and A Level Sociology

AS and A Level General Studies

AS Critical Thinking

There are currently 100 students following these courses.

Social Studies subjects give students the opportunity to read, think and talk about different aspects of our society in an informed and objective way. They allow students to discover more about human behaviour and motivations through class work, investigations and experiments.

Currently there are five staff working within the department: Mrs Wren (Head of Subject, teaching sociology, government and politics and general studies) Miss Arndt (teaching psychology and general studies) Mr Southgate (teaching government and politics) Miss Ford (teaching general studies) Mrs Southgate (teaching critical thinking)

Students are not expected to have qualifications in these subjects before they start the courses.
