Energy, Changing State, Living Things, Burning, Electricity, Plant Power, Metals, Forces, Life Story and environment from year 8. on completion of each topic the students take a written test and recieve National Curriculum Levels for that topic. Home Work -
In year seven students should be receiving one home work per week which should take around half an hour to complete. It is now possible to assign levels to each homework enabling students to track their progress through the topics. Setting -
The science sets are determined after consultation with the maths department using key stage 2 data to guide our decisions. The year is split into two 'halves'. Each half is then set on ability in maths and science at key stage 2. Acids and Bases, Vital Organs, Earth and Space, Matter, Nutrition, Energy Resources, Rocks, Environment, Light and Sound and competition from year 9. Home Work -

The year is split into two 'halves'. Each half then has one top set and two or three mixed ability groups (these are numbered which can cause confusion but R2, R3, W2, W3 and W4 are all equal sets in ability and mix!) Chemical Reactions, Competition, Balanced Forces, Chemical Patterns, Being Healthy, Moving Energy. Followed by three revision topics:Biology Revision, Chemistry Revision, Physics Revision which leads us into the SATs tests.

Currently year 9 are set within each half of the year. (i.e. 2 set ones, 2 set twos etc) Each class has one teacher that takes them for 5 hours per fortnight. |
