THE RELIGIOUS EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

At St George’s we believe that RE forms an important part of the pupil’s education, reminding us that education should develop body, mind and spirit. We are not trying to convert pupils, but to make them think about their life and about God, and to help them make up their own minds.

R.E at St George’s is taken seriously and is taught by specialist teachers. The syllabus is designed to help pupils to reflect on their own experience and to increase their knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other major world religions, encouraging them to recognise the spiritual dimension of life. It is designed for all pupils at the school, whether they are not from committed Christian families. We aim to encourage pupils to understand and respect the views and beliefs of others.
