YEAR SEVEN

1)Pupils in Year Seven are currently learning about the importance of pulse in music, different note values and pitches and how to notate simple melodies.They are using percussion instruments and keyboards to compose and perform rhythms and melodies. 2)Pupils will then be looking at simple musical forms and structures. This again will be through performing and composition.

YEAR EIGHT

Pupils in Year Eight are currently learning about different musical structures. They are using tuned and untuned percussion as well as keyboards to create compositions in the various forms and structures. They will then develop their various compositional skills when they move onto the Theme and Variations topic.

YEAR NINE

Year Nine pupils are starting their G.C.S.E option in music. They are combining developing their subject knowledge with composition and performance skills whilst focusing on the 12 Bar Blues. They will be then moving onto the development of The Blues from Ragtime, through history and also the development of Jazz and improvisation.
