KEY STAGE 4

There are more sets in Years 10 & 11. The sets are smaller to help secure and promote success at GCSE. The Key Maths scheme helps to build upon the skills and expertise developed in KS3.

Set 1 follows the Higher course, leading to grades A* - C. Sets 2, 3 & 4 follow the Intermediate course, leading to grades B - E and set 5 follows the Foundation course, leading to grades D - G.

The GCSE assessment is made up of 80% Exam and 20% coursework tasks. The Tasks consist of two pices of work, a statistics project and an investigation linked to other topics and skills developed throughout the GCSE course.

KEY STAGE 5

Modular GCSE Course

This course provides the opportunity for students who need additional time to improve upon their GCSE grade.

AS/A2 Level

In year 12 the AS level modules pupils take are the Edexcel modules of Core (Pure) Maths 1 and 2, and their choice of Mechanics 1 or Statistics 1.

Those pupils who are successful can continue to A2 Level taking Core Maths 3 & 4 and either Mechanics 2 or Statistics 2.

what about this one!!

There was once a very smart horse. Anything that was shown it, it mastered easily, until one day its teachers tried to teach it about rectangular coordinates and it couldn't understand them. All the horse's aquaintances and friends tried to figure out what was the matter, but couldn't.

Then a new guy (what the heck, a computer engineer) looked at the problem and said,

"Of course he can't do it. Why, you're putting Descartes before the horse!"
