YEAR 8 JAPANESE TASTER COURSE

Introduction to Japanese culture and Hiragana alphabet.

Basic greetings, saying your name and age. Giving your nationality. Names of countries. Numbers 1-10 Talking about your family.

Pupils have a lot of opportunity to practice role play in Japanese and practice national customs which can be quite different from our own.

The Japnese Exchange

This exchange is now in its 4th successful year. A small group of pupils has travelled to Japan every other year of the exchange to take part in cultural visits and find out about japanese school and familly life. In return a group of Japnese students visit St George's and stay with famillies in Gravesend on alternate years. The visit is usually concluded by a perfomance of traditional Japanese arts and traditions.

YEAR 9 AND KEY STAGE 4

In years 9 and KS 4 pupils follow the Edexcel GCSE course.

Reaults in this course have been excellent since its introduction two years ago.

 Life in the town, countryside, seaside.  Weather and climate  Travel transport and directions  Holidays, tourist information and accommodation  Customs and everyday life in Japan

A level Japanese

The Edexel AS/A2 Course is followed. Pupils will learn to use the language in more advanced situations and wil earn how to discuss matters relating to young people and the world in general.
