ICT in Key Stage 3

The keystage 3 strategy for ICT is delivered through discrete ICT lessons. Pupils are taught ICT capability (the ability to solve problems by choosing from a variety of software the best application for the job and to reflect on their work, making any improvements necessary). They will aquire the skills needed to communicate effectively using all forms of digital media. They will have a good working knowledge of applications used in the workplace.

A LEVEL computing aims to give the students a solid grounding in programming techniques and an in-depth knowledge of the internal workings of popular computer systems.

Students will use Visual Basic 6 and Visual dBase 7.

The course is modular - the students take exams throughout the two years, and they are required to produce a detailed piece of coursework.

Cisco network engineering course is a popular course taken over 2 years by students in the sixth form. The curriculum is available on-line and can be studied from home.

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

What will computers let us do next month, next year, in three years?

We are now fully connected to the internet via a new super-fast broadband connection.

Our new computer suite devoted to Media Studies allows students to work with current programs in the area of multi-media editing and photo-imaging manipulation.

A new computer suite for the sole use of six-formers has been set up and is fully operational.
