Imagination and creativity are no less important than basic skills. The aim is to produce well-rounded individuals of discrimination, who are able to achieve their full potential in whatever comes to be their chosen field. Subject Content: Pupils follow the National Curriculum requirements from Year 7: Grammar - Knowledge about Language and writing skills. Literature - novels, plays and poetry. Spoken and Written English.
OWN LEARNING:
Set once a week. Thirty minutes in Year 7. This includes written, learning and reading work. This time increases as pupils progress through the school.
Assessment: Pupils are tested regularly in a range of skills. They are assessed on their coursework (completed in class and at home), which forms the basis for their placement in teaching groups.
Teaching Groups: Year 7: Two top groups. Five parallel groups. Two broad bands of pupils in classes of thirty. Years 8 & 9: Ability groups of thirty pupils:
Two top groups. Five parallel groups. Years 10 & 11 : Ability groups: Two top groups of thirty pupils. Four parallel groups of no more than twenty-five pupils. Two parallel groups of GCSE Media Studies of around 25 students (running in Years 9, 10 and 11). Sixth Form
